This hunt was very special to me because
it took place on my family's 1300 acre
farm in an area where a four lane highway
is about to be. My uncle, who lived
in the same town, had passed away suddenly
on February 15th of this year. At the
time I took this bird, I was wearing
a cap he had given me. Uncle Jimmy was
the first person to take me turkey hunting,
and I wouldn't have gotten this bird
without advice he had given me. "When
a turkey gobbles in the afternoon, put
the call down and get ready."
I find myself bumbling through this
story, but it is impossible to express
the things my family has gone through
lately. What I can say, however, is
that our time together with our family
is the most cherished thing we have,
and to spend it in God's country outdoors
makes it all the more special. Remember
this next time you're out hunting with
a person you're close to.
